A gifted artist, a kind and generous man with a fearless spirit, Paco Young died at his home in Montana on December 1,2005, after a courageous yearlong battle with leukemia. He was 47.

A true outdoorsman of the American West, Paco was blessed with limitless artistic talent, boundless enthusiasm and countless friends. He had an affinity for nature and a passion for life that is evident in each of his timeless paintings.

Paco, his devoted wife, Toni, and their young son, Graham, lived in a setting that fueled his artistic imagination. It was a source of constant inspiration to him as well as to the many artists and students the Youngs hosted at their acclaimed workshops.

Through his art, Paco expressed the passion he felt for a landscape that is rapidly changing. In a world becoming increasingly high-tech, Paco recognized the appeal of a vanishing, simpler way of life saying, "I want to record our times because they will be the past before we realize it." Over the years, Mill Pond Press was privileged to publish a number of his paintings as limited edition prints.

In addition to his formal art training, Paco traveled extensively, honing his technical skills with professional art tours, invitationals and group exhibits, garnering many prestigious honors as well as loyal collectors while raising millions of dollars for conservation causes. His original oil paintings grace Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone National Park and the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center in Montana.

The inspired art of Paco Young is imbued with the same vitality that so characterized the artist, reflecting his deep and abiding love of the land and its people. And just like the artist himself, his paintings remain unforgettable.
