Elizabeth Brooke Biography Continued:

...teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland. Moving to Houston, Texas in
1961, she continued her long career in education, working as a teacher, curriculum coordinator, and finally Director of Staff Development and Management Training in the Spring Branch Independent School District.

Although Libby received no formal art training, she was encouraged to pursue her talent and interest in oil and watercolor painting by participating in local art classes and workshops. She took painting trips to many parts of the country, and discovered that beauty is found everywhere in nature – and feels that the artist’s responsibility is to paint their passions.

The beauty of spring in the Texas hill country finally lured her away from the city, to the bluebonnets and wildflowers of the rural hillsides and fields that she has come to love. Using a palette knife and intense colors, Libby has developed a unique style for creating beautiful landscape paintings of bluebonnets and wildflowers. An occasional garden scene or still life setting sometimes catches her attention, and finds it way onto her canvas.

She still attends weekly art classes, to keep in touch with other artists and develop fresh ideas and techniques. She has served as the President of her local art league. As a lifelong teacher, she recognizes that every day there is something new to explore, learn and create.
