Marty Bell Biography Continued:

...Early in life, Marty discovered love for art. In high school, she began developing her skills in the arts. Unfortunately her teachers did not recognize her God-given talents. In Marty's words, "Our teachers would ask us to draw still lifes, like a broken tricycle or a baseball bat. These have their place, but who would want them on their wall forever?" Marty continues, "'I would work with that for a while and then I would start playing on my own with the paints. This is where I would get into trouble."

After completing high school, Marty attended college studying interior interior and fashion design. Unfortunately for the art world, Marty's art work had to wait; she had fallen in [love with her husband to be, Steve. They were married in 1950.

Marty enrolled in a group oil painting class and found a new beginning for her artistic expression. Fortunately, her teacher was secure in her own talent and was able to teach the use of the medium while encouraging individual creativity. Marty knew the direction she wanted to go. When this teacher moved away, after only a few months, Marty sought further aid for the style of paintings she wanted to produce. The next two teachers, however, proved to be of little help. In these two classes, other students saw her unique style and asked for her help.
