Texas has more wild turkeys than any state and copper-hued Rio Grande turkeys are dominant. Sales of Texas Turkey Stamps and Prints funded the largest eastern turkey restoration program in history. Eastern turkeys disappeared from Texas shortly after the turn of the 19th century. Today, East Texas spring woods are once again reverberating with the calls of this magnificent bird.
